A View Of Beijing From Heiko Waechter

A web designer by trade, Australian based Heiko Waechter brings us this collection of images he has taken on a trip to the capital of China Beijing. Im a big fan of photography that brings a side of the world to me that i don’t have access to, here we see a real intimate personal view of China, Heiko does a super job bringing out the character of each individual in these visual pieces. We are often fed the idea from our negative media world that China is just a big controlling monster of a country, and perhaps the Protests of Tiananmen Square will always feed this idea with it fresh in the minds of many a journalist. Heiko Waechter make us forget what we are fed, and see the people, the fantastic culture for ourselves in this collection. Creating our own views and opinions, the true power of great photography has the ability to do this. Provoke thought and emotion, these pieces really capture me I hope they do everyone else reading. Heiko in his own words explains that he’s “always been interested in photography, how it has the power to capture a moment in time, and leave it open to interpretation”. He began to take photography more seriously in 2007 when he decided it was about time he purchased his first digital slr, since then he has worked on trial & error to get more comfortable with the technical aspects, as we can all see above and below his persistence has defiantly paid off.
