Misaki Kawai

Misaki Kawai was born in 1978 and grew up in Osaka, Japan. As a young girl she was influenced by western pop culture to a fanatical degree, especially 60′s fashion and the hippie culture, she even used to hand make clothes for herself to wear. She then went on to graduate from Art College in 1999, and travelled most of the world, her place of residence is now in Brooklyn, New York.
Most of her drawings and artwork are set around a world of cartoon characters, it’s all very innocent, honest and full of adolescent playfulness. Misaki’s work pretty much shows off her personality, cute is probably an understatement, more like adorable. You will see what i mean in the video below this written piece, in which we get a tour of her apartment thanks to VBS.
