Sky By Philip Bloom
Commanding piece of moving image, brought to us by director of photography Philip Bloom, This short time lapse of Dubai filmed over five days and nights has become my current favourite time lapse. Philip Bloom just brings quality to the table every time, theres no doubt about it, his work is fantastic. It wasn’t too long ago he brought us all a stunning piece filmed in Skywalker ranch, and that was great on the eyes too, but he just keeps delivering at a very high level. The use of wide shots in this piece is used to great effect opening the view to show off the architecture, these buildings become like powerful static giants as the sky seems to pass on its journey home that night. At moments the sky and water give off the impression and appearance that they are dancing around these iconic buildings. I tend to believe that these timelapse provoke the view to stop and reflect, and with the quality of photography in this piece, it just makes you want to stop and admire the world go around. Im sure many of you will agree that Philips five days of filming have been well worth the time and hard work spent, you can read up in more detail about the making of this piece on his most recent blog article, link below
“I want to dedicate this film to Sky Vasser, daughter of my friend Vanessa Vasser whom I worked with on “Nightshift†who died at a tragically young age. I only met her a handful of times but she had enormous personality that I will never forget. My thoughts are with you Vanessa” – Philip Bloom
