I personally think most creatives reach their chosen material by pure chance, it’s rare that an individual has planned a direct route in to their craft. For example woodworker Jonathan Leech originally worked for top furniture maker Danny Frost, but he later turned his hobby and passion of woodturning in to a full-time profession.

His preferred style is ‘minimalist’, using a simple design which allows the wood to express its own qualities. This often includes natural edges, knot-holes, burrs, spalting, and other naturally-occurring imperfections. Each piece is truly unique.

This week I thought I’d showcase a few new pieces that we’ve received from Jonathan’s workshop. I especially like the small burr sycamore bowl that’s seen in the photograph above, it has a beautiful bark edge and lovely graining.
