Filippa K Spring/Summer 2012 Men’s Collection Scrapbook Imagery

Today I thought I’d put a different twist on the Filippa K Spring/Summer 2012 collection that I was sent a little while back. Since it was given to me in scrapbook form it’s stuck with me in my mind, particularly over the last month as fashion weeks all over the world have taken hold of the internet. Personally I’m not really a high fashion/luxury man, although I guess you could consider a lot of the products that we talk about luxury in some form of another, so I rarely get excited over catwalks. I have a few designers that I check, such as Margaret Howell, Junya Watanabe and Comme des Garcons, but apart from that I wouldn’t really call myself a ‘fashion geek’ as such, more of a guy interested in design overall. Filippa K is one designer who seems to have filtered into the mix over the years, she’s got a fantastic eye for simplicity and quality and likes to create sophisticated clothing that has a timeless feel.
When the SS12 collection was fired over to my inbox I was pretty inspired by the mix of imagery and the close up shots of the clothing, mainly detail shots and the odd lookbook type photography. It was a weird mix but in a lot of ways it worked. I’ve tried to convey this in the post that you see before your eyes, I’ve picked out some of my favourite snaps from the Filippa K SS12 scrapbook which mixes real design elements such as furniture and architecture, materials like concrete and wood, but more importantly texture, colour and even shape which I think adds a whole new dimension to a clothing collection. This really shows the design team and their inspirations and what they’re trying to form as a company. I was definitely inspired by this scrapbook and the clothing, just look at how incredible those knits are!
Obviously this doesn’t really post doesn’t really present the collection as such, which could have some of you disappointed, but no need to worry because if you want to see model shots you can head over to the Filippa K website by clicking the link below. They have a dedicated section for Spring/Summer 2012.

This is good. I like when brands take a more desing aproach to presenting their collections. It show that they are considering in a context beyond just the garment itself but how the clothing and environment are interconnected.
