METSA Design Fall/Winter 2011 Collection Lookbook

I’m proud to finally showcase some imagery from Canadian based brand Metsa for Fall/Winter 2011. It pinpoints some of the button downs, which are a real staple for the brand, trousers, and even a grey wool jacket which is more like a weighted blazer. A bit more relaxed than your usual preppy style and is an item that really pushes the label forward in my opinion. Can’t wait to see more outerwear pieces like this in the near future.

If I’m honest this post has been a long time coming, I’ve been speaking with owner and founder Markus Uran for a little while through email and his small label consistently blows me away. The project really focuses on well thought-out and well-designed clothing that has an underlying simplicity and handmade type feel. Every garment feels very special and unique, something that is quite rare to see.

It’s probably because Markus is into experimenting a lot and really likes to have full control over every element. For example the white porcelain buttons used on the shirts are all hand-rolled and cut by the Uran’s mother at her pottery studio in Toronto. The textiles are often hand-dyed in pomegranate for several hours and then washed out in a lake near Uran’s summer cottage, as you can see there is more to it than meets the eye. And that’s the real appeal about this type of product, it’s cared for and really appeals to those individuals who want the finer details. Carefully designed and considered.
