I wanted to put together this post specifically to raise awareness for the arts culture in Britain. On the plus side, this video is a great piece of work, and is actually by David Shrigley, English animator and all round creative.
This is just the first of a series of works created to encourage people to sign a petition against the proposed 25% cuts in government funding of the arts.
Over a hundred leading artists including David Hockney, Damien Hirst, Anthony Caro, Howard Hodgkin, Anish Kapoor, Richard Hamilton, Bridget Riley, Antony Gormley and Tracey Emin have joined the campaign to make the case against the proposed 25% cuts in government funding of the arts.
Each week the work of a different artist, created in response to the campaign, will be released. Mark Wallinger will present the next project. So watch out for that soon.
I have to say thanks to It’s Nice That for the heads up on the video and the campaign. I probably wouldn’t of seen it otherwise.
