Layer Upon Layer – Paper Art by Angela Glajcar

Paper Series by Angela Glajcar 1

When I first came across washi paper in Japan I was instantly inspired because it opened my eyes to the potential of such a simple material. The small details that go into the making process are especially intriguing. Producing just one sheet of paper is complex, a whole batch is a whole different level.

German artist Angela Glajcar has taken the use of paper to the next level with her multiple series that turn this simple material into a selection of sculptural forms that are comprised of many layers. Angela’s ability to craft a minimalist aesthetic that consists of complex layering systems make for a wonderful balance that’s harmonious.

This playful nature was inspiring to see. How she experiments with and manipulates paper in all different formats to offer a unique perspective on this humble material that we often use daily and take for granted.
