Bue & Kloss – Brushes by Poppy Lawman
Poppy Lawman, a British designer based in Oslo, Norway, creates these brush designs that are a wonderful fusion of form and function.
The two series that I’m highlighting here today are the Bue and Kloss series. The Bue series is especially striking and is comprised of flowing, fluid forms that are fabricated using traditional steam bending techniques. The resulting lines are quiet and calm, evoking a kind of simplicity and charm that makes them so attractive on the eye and easy to hold in the hand.
Kloss on the other hand uses ivory horsehair to create objects that call out for you to touch and handle them, drawing your fingers along to experience their contrasting tactile surfaces.
It’s very inspiring to see a designer take quite eccentric, sculptural form and adapt these to functional objects that still have an abundance of character. I am certainly enamoured by these! See more from Popply Lawman via her webpage linked blow.
