This week we have a special feature for you all of you to enjoy, putting this together has been one of my favorite to date, it’s always a pleasure to work with imagery and content like this. Plus, I know this particular feature in question is going to be enjoyed across the whole web and in many countries, their publications in our shop have been one of our most popular items available to purchase. Who would have known a small independent furniture company from Japan would have stirred up so much interest, and if you haven’t heard about them yet this is going to be a great introduction for you. I’m constantly inspired by what our good friend Tok is pursuing and his ever extending goals.
The husband and wife duo, Tokuhiko Kise and Hiromi Karatsu, co-founded TRUCK Furniture back in 1997 with the mentality of making furniture for themselves. They wanted to produce functional works that didn’t look to fashion or trends, based on a simplistic but handcrafted style. With such a premise on quality it didn’t take long before they decided to extend their business and go through a process of building a workshop, a cafe/restaurant next door called Bird, the TRUCK showroom, and their house situated at the back. The whole story has been documented in the fantastic book that is TRUCK nest.
I’m not going to spoil the feature and tell you too much, but I thought I’d place up some inspiring imagery that would lead you on to the piece. If you don’t own one of the TRUCK catalogues or publications I’d highly recommend them, they’re full of fantastic furniture, lifestyle imagery, also architectural shots and quite in-depth thoughts. I hope you enjoy what we have to offer.
