When I support something you know that it’s genuine and that I actually enjoy admiring and using these functional works of art. Mjolk is a small furniture and craft shop owned by John and Juli Baker in Toronto, Canada. They specialise in stocking a selection Scandinavian and Japanese design, so I’ve always had strong admiration for their project. When they started producing publications it made sense to represent them in the shop. Publication number four has just released and we received new stock of the book in the shop last week.
John was kind enough to send over a selection of exclusive imagery from inside the book, which I thought would give you a better glimpse in to the content inside the book and what topic they are discussing. In this particular issue they head to Japan to visit the workshops of ceramic artists Keisuke and Michiko Iwata, also interviews with Jurgen Lehl and Ryuji Mitani.
As with their shop selection, which focuses on Japanese and Scandinavian design, the book introduces us to artists and designers that have yet to be fully documented. I hope you enjoy these images from inside the book and will go on to support this independent shop, like our own, in the near future.
