Mix simple design with innovative materials and I am instantly hooked. That’s exactly what Japanese workshop ZIKICO have done in collaboration with talented designer Oji Masanori.
The ‘SUMU’ Cutlery Series uses the material zirconia that’s derived from minerals and has a hardness close to diamond and ruby. Composed of two different kinds of crystals, not only is this ceramic-like material durable it’s also as flexible as metal and has a series of health benefits. Most notable is zirconia being a non-allergic material and does not taint any food that it comes in to contact with.
Such beautiful, cohesive design is always a pleasure to see and use. These pieces are now available at OEN.
