New Handturned Wooden Bowls & Dishes by Jonathan Leech at OEN Shop

Some of the craftsmen in the shop have set products that we’re able to get hold of again, others are more spontaneous in their production and I put all my faith in the maker to supply works that are both interesting and of high quality. One craftsman that never fails to disappoint is Jonathan Leech, and this week he’s sent over some new pieces for us to stock in 2015.

Although Jonathan mainly gets commissions from galleries, he has a great eye when it comes to functional form and I also like the fact that he bridges over to the sculptural side of things. Whether that means making use of the natural knots and scars in the wood, or leaving waney natural edges on show at the top of the bowl, these unique traits add character and warmth.

For example with this Waney Edge bowl seen above, it has a fantastic rustic edge that would cut through nicely in any environment. It’s also nice knowing that these are truly one of a kind and can’t be reproduced again. A new selection is now available in the shop.
