Hide In The City by Liu Bolin
Liu Bolin, born 1973 in Shandong, China, is a Chinese artist known for taking photographs of himself, painted in order to blend in with the background. He originally graduated from the Sculpture Department of Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, but now works on projects full time.
He’s been getting some serious media attention, particularly from yahoo and other news orientated networks over the past few months. The series they all like is called “Hide In The City”, which has been running on and off since 2006. What I have pulled from the artist’s website above and below are new photos taken either last year or this year. These give us a good representation of his works, although his old stuff is great too.
The above one has to be my favourite, the intricate detailing is absolutely mind boggling. You can see all the different shades of black in the coal. If you aren’t familiar with Liu Bolin’s work, please click the link below to see more.
