The Maestro Stool by The Andes House

No fuss, no clutter, just an underlying simplicity that you can take a hand in thanks to design studio The Andes House who present us with the Maestro stool. Their creative team, which is based in Chile, is made up of seven individuals who develop work across the mediums of art, design and architecture respectively. This diverse range of talents is slowly gaining international recognition for their collective work, so I thought it was about time we brought across one of their projects as a nod of appreciation to the creativity at the heart of The Andes House.

One project that has gained them rather deserving coverage is the Made in Mimbre collaboration where they’ve designed a line of products made from wicker with local creatives from the Chimbrarongo community in the VI Region of Chile. I’d really recommend checking this out afterwards as they’ve put together some really beautiful handmade items here. I did however want to move the attention more towards this minimal stool which hasn’t been showcased as much as I think it deserves.

Firstly I love the fact that this piece is encouraging people to get involved in the creative process, I’d definitely be purchasing one of these as a project to do with my young son/daughter if I was a father, this one beats video games hands down all day long. I don’t think this piece is restricted to the young ones either, everybody wants to own something that has a personal connection to it, and I imagine it would be quite hard to mess up this design anyhow. So you’re getting a great little piece of furniture either way – even if you aren’t that sentimental.

I’m not usually a big fan on the flat pack projects as my experience tends to be that the quality of the materials often undermined the lifespan of the product. This classic looking design constructed out of simple pine doesn’t harbour this problem however, so for more information on where and how to get hold of these head over to The Andes House website via the link below.
