Football by Charlie Crane

I came across this series of photographs by Charlie Crane titled “Football”. It’s a project that’s quite old and was taken in Spring of 2007 for Sony and FIFA as part of the run up to the 2010 world cup. Charlie opened up the original brief slightly and decided to work on a large format film camera, the results of which you can see above and below. Beautiful composition and breathtaking tones, nothing too in your face.

What really impressed me though is the variety of shots and also the way in which it shows the bridge between the various nations, this is exactly how football should be seen. Sports can connect and bring people together and I hope with magazines such as The Green Soccer Journal we can showcase the brighter side of football. To see this series in full head over to the Charlie Crane portfolio.
