Feature with Chicago Based Woodworker Jason Lewis

It’s been a long time coming, a new interview has finally blessed our feature section! This time featuring Chicago based furniture maker and designer Jason Lewis. Jason and I have been meaning to put something together for a while, but both of our schedules clashed, so it took us some time going back and forth, but I’m really pleased with what has come of it. Good things happen to …

Preserving the Authenticity of the Eames Furniture by Eames Demetrios

Although we’ve mainly been discovering craftsman and artists lately we’re definitely not looking past the fact that we enjoy various designers who have designed items that are currently being mass produced. In fact, my office bookshelf is littered with hoards of books from the likes of Jasper Morrison, Naoto Fukasawa, and the older generation like Aalto and Eames, the latter we’ll …

Short Film on Eames Chair Creation

I’m not going to lie, today has been somewhat of a frustrating uphill battle in the content department, we’ve found ourselves stockpiled with certain subjects and thin on the ground with others. A few that I’ll point out straight away include the salt and pepper pots by Enzo Mari that are featured in the 5th image from the top. I haven’t come across these before but it was designed for Zani and Zani in 1986, they’re actually made out of steel and used to come in a set of 6 to hold oil …

As the office begins to become over run with books, Leslie Williamson’s Handcrafted Modern has become a firm favourite amongst our ranks. So it’s little surprise that the photographer come author made it to the top of our interview hit list, and fortunately we were able to find a gap in her schedule to put one together. With news of the second installment of the book being compiled it …

Vitra FICTION “Remind Me” by Florian Böhm

Vitra recently released this short film directed by Florian Böhm and is titled “Remind Me”. It’s the first from a series of videos named “Fiction” which looks to tell domestic stories that could have happened to any of us. It shows how these much prized pieces of furniture either drives an action forward by being involved in a humans everyday life, or how they just sit back camouflaged and become part of the ever evolving scene. The video itself is nicely …
