Documentary on Helen Rödel

Today’s going to be an interesting one for films, we’ve got a bit of back log and all of them are as good as each other. This one very much stands on its own in terms of subject and is a documentary that follows the manual techniques used by Brazilian designer Helen Rödel. Although this piece is based on womenswear the filming is exceptional and the dedication going into each garment is astonishing.

I was also impressed by how gripping this piece is, usually with these documentaries, this one being about 8 minutes long, you’re left hanging around in-between and you kind of get distracted. With this video you become intrigued and infatuated with the weavers hand, quite fascinating. I’ll leave this little quote that I found in the bio, “the video reveals the designer’s thoughts about the paradox of the time between weaving and thinking.”. Great stuff, watch on below.
