New Feature – A Look at Japanese Woodworking Studio Fujii Works

It’s been more than 3 years since we began stocking the beautiful lacquered wooden objects crafted by Fujii Works in Ono City, Hyogo Prefecture. Although it’s been a while, this is the first time that we’ve been able to profile them in this way. So I’m really pleased that I was able to arrange talented Japanese photographer Issei Kashiwagi to travel to their studio and take pictures of them crafting their objects by hand.

At the Fujii Works studio, run by husband and wife team Kenichi and Minako Fujii, Kenichi tends to turn many of the works on the lathe and Minako applies all the finishes, such as lacquer and oil treatments, in her separate studio. Anyway, I won’t spoilt it too much as I’d like you to read through the feature and follow the captions below all the photos. I think you’ll really enjoy this one.
