The Miller House, Designed by Eero Saarinen

I’ve been learning a bit about the background of Finnish American architect and industrial designer, Eero Saarinen. His style really stood out to me, and I was particularly intrigued to see his friendship with students Charles and Ray Eames, and also Florence Knoll. It’s funny how all these great designers serge together as if it was meant to be.

So when I found out Eero Saarinen’s legendary Miller House was open to the public this month, I had to pick up some shots of the all round aesthetic. Leslie Williamson took all these photos for Dwell magazine and it gives us an intimate tour of this Columbus, Indiana, treasure.

In addition to Eero Saarinen, the house and gardens showcases the work of leading 20th-century figures such as interior designer Alexander Girard, landscape architect Dan Kiley, and principal design associate at the Saarinen office, Kevin Roche. If you want to see more shots of the interior and exterior, I would reccomend checking out the Dwell website where they have the full series in a slideshow.
