Undercover x Nike, Running Monks

It’s Nice That, the fantastic design publication, tips us off on this fantastic video titled “Running Monks” by Undercover and Nike for the Gyakusou range. If you don’t know, they’re currently on their third season which has been received well and has become popular amongst many who wanted functional clothing for running but with that extra twist that Jun Takahashi and co bring to the forefront.

The quest has always been to find total athletic performance in the products, it must be intriguing to reverse engineer and strip down the clothing to find what people ‘truly’ need. The collection stemmed from Takahashi’s love for long-distance running and his desire to combine his own functional design aesthetic with Nike’s innovation expertise.

“Fabrics used are lightweight, water resistant and breathable with an emphasis on moisture management. They also use Dri-FIT, Therma-FIT and Sphere Cool which are accompanied by perforated panels and tactically placed concealed zip pockets and organized multi pockets for enhanced storage solutions without superfluous obstruction.”

This video that we’re highlighting today released exclusively on POP is particularly atmospheric and is shot against some stunning backdrops including the 13th Century Buddhist temple Kozan-ji and the ancient Fushimi Inari-taisha shrine. Terrific!
