New at OEN Shop – Japanese Ceramics by Potter Makoto Asebi

Looking for classic but contemporary pottery? Look no further than Makoto Asebi’s work produced at his studio in Kamakura, a city located just outside of Tokyo.

Makoto is able to achieve this unique matte surface by applying a white slip and firing at a high temperature. The resulting finish is a smooth surface that glints in the sunlight.

Although simple, Makoto Asebi has definitely mastered the production of understated, functional design that still carries an abundance of character.
