Calder at Home: The Joyous Environment of Alexander Calder by Pedro Guerreo
It’s been a long week, so i’m hoping to finish it off with a few good posts today, then have tomorrow off. I guess it just depends if i have the urge to post again, which usually happens when looking for inspiration.
This ones a bit off the ball, but i found some imagery from inside a book by Pedro Guerreo named “Calder at Home: The Joyous Environment of Alexander Calder”. If you don’t know, Alexander Calder was an American sculptor, and also a well known painter and maker of various other household objects.
This book (and the imagery shown here) is basically a curation of snapshots of his working environment, and quite a weird one at that. But weird is good in this instance, with toys, tapestries and lithographs laying around everywhere, it’s a haven for creativity. But when i came across these, the furniture specifically caught my eye. So striking, but at the same time, so simple.
Maybe i’ve created a new found love for furniture items, but whatever way, you will respect the space and what this great man did for sculpture.
P.S: I recommend checking out this site if your into the furniture like me – www.sitandreadfurniture.blogspot.com
