New Work at OEN Shop – Autumn 2015 Ceramics from Mushimegane Books
It doesn’t seem all that long ago that we had our last shipment from Mushimegane Books, turns out it was earlier in the year and since then we’ve nearly sold out of Misa’s works. What I’ve gathered through general research over the years, along with feedback from customers, is that people are particularly attracted to the unique aesthetic of her works, alongside the fact that the glazes are very muted and feature unique speckling on the surface.
To be quite honest, I’ve not seen varied glaze effects like this in many other work, and it’s mostly down to the fact that Misa creates these glazes using natural materials found in her immediate environment. For example, sand, stone, earth, and even sea shells, I’d definitely recommend our feature to learn more on the process.
So as we had a big shipment arrive it seemed right to show a selection of my favourite photos on the blog this week, I’m sure you’ll get the gist of what I mean in terms of aesthetic and the stunning glazes used. Enjoy.
