New at OEN Shop – Woodwork by Japanese Studio OITECO

Woodwork by Japanese Studio OITECO 1

Visually appealing design is always nice to see, but sometime’s it’s skin-deep. That’s why craft is so underrated, the subtle change over time and the inconsistencies matches with a good design make for something that grows with you rather than away from you.

OITECO drew me in with their contemporary dry bud vases and spinning tops, not just because of their practicality, but also because of their dyeing methods that I have never really come across before. For example the dark coloured bud vases are created using an iron solution, and the orange colour using unripe permission called ‘Kakishibu’ in Japanese.

We are proud to support this husband and wife duo Hisayoshi and Ikuko Hatsushiba in our shop and have listed a selection of their works through the link below. Enjoy.
