Mr. Smith’s Letterpress Workshop

Creative Review release their second studio visit, this time they visit Mr. Smith’s Letterpress Workshop in South London. This movie mainly features the owner of this little studio, an independent letterpress printer called Kelvyn Smith, as he prepares for the Reverting to Type letterpress exhibition that took place in London’s Standpoint Gallery back in December.

It really opens your eyes to technology and how far things have moved on for magazines and printers in the last 20 years or so. I really respect Kelvyn for homing in on his craft and becoming very skilled at what he does. Luckily for us, he guides us through how he sets the type and prints it onto paper in the short video below.
