New at OEN Shop – Tomoaki Nakano’s Lidded Lacquer Pots Handcrafted in Japan

Some products come in to stock and I have a hard time restocking them. Tomoaki Nakano is super busy in Japan and is always producing for various galleries in the country, so I was lucky enough to get my hands on three more lidded lacquer pots that come in both red and black.

Before we stocked some pieces with a flowing shape so it’s nice to see these angular forms that have beautiful detailing on the surface. Lacquer is usually flat in colour and texture, but the red straight lidded pot has beautiful textured lines that link to the woodworking skills that take place before the lacquer process. The black pot also has similar lines that are etched in.

To create such works just shows that Tomoaki is truly a master of his craft and has honed his technique throughout the years. I hope you will take a look at the full selection in the shop on the link below.
